Are savaloy sausages ALWAYS cooked and ready to eat?

There's a pack in the fridge and I'm hungry, but I don't know if I have to cook them. I've had plenty in the past straight out the packet from the food man that used to come round the workies club, but never bought any from the shop before until now.

There's no cooking or heating instructions on, but then it doesn't say 'ready to eat' either.

If I give in to my hunger and eat them as they are, will I die a horrible death?

Mum used to say don't eat raw sossige, you'll get worms.

Drop em in a saucepan of boiling water for 3/4 mins.

So what you're saying is they are cooked, but I should heat them to kill any parasites that might have moved in?

No, boil them to make sure any parasites that were all ready in there are killed. Can't be that much different to the veggie ones I eat, probably about the same amount of meat in them too :heehee:

I boil mine from frozen till they bend or microwave them untill I can hear them sizzle.

I've eaten one and am still not dead:dbgrtmb:

I put it in the microwave for about a minute just to kill off any worms.

If it were raw, it would have been light pink & squishy, so I think you'll live Dave :D

I ate a raw Sprat once, just to annoy my sister:heehee:

Clueless you're making my mouth water! When I lived in Essex we used to by them deep fried from the local chippy, with chips of course and covered with tomato sauce. Heaven. :thumb:

Having been reared by parents who were Londoners I also miss pie, mash and liquor (parsley sauce). They haven't heard of this on the island. Oh I wish...........:cry3::)

As far as I know, Saveloy is a smoked sausage and doesn't need to be cooked.
But if you want to dip it in batter and deep fry it - that's up to you.
