Saw dust in compost?

    Hi :)

    Can I put sawdust (from a home workshop) into the compost? I have a really dim memory of being told that you shouldn't try it for some reason. :old:

    And does the same thing apply to 'normal' planed softwoods and tanalised rough timber?

    My reply would be no.

    Ordinary softwood would be OK but it will take a long time to rot and it needs nitrogen to do so.

    Tanalised, sounds really dodgy to me as it contains some nasty chemicals.

    Erm, as above really - don't put the tanalised stuff in. Sawdust will rot down pretty quick
