    Meet my new friends the Ventnor Wall Lizards, There's absolutely loads of them in the botanic gardens old stone walls and cold frames and in amongst the plants too, there so much fun to watch run around:lollol:

    They were introduced some decades ago, didn't know they were still there, I have had confirmation of colonies on the cliffs and Chines in Bournemouth as well. They are great to see, I love them.:thumb:

    Yep there still here and plentiful as ever they've even started spreading out a bit more :thumb:

    Hi Kalmia ... beautful photographs! :thumb:

    As I think you know, I had a home in Bonchurch for about seven years but only spent holidays and the summers there but we used to walk the sea walll walk from Bonchurch to Ventnor many times a week and we were always greeted by geckos as we approached the then new harbour scurrying around.

    I understood that they were the only gecko colony outside of mainland Europe at that time.

    A most beautiful part of the UK you live in and we miss it greatly. :(

    The first time I came across gekos was in madeira, I fell in love with them. We sat on a wall feeding them bits of our sandwich. I was so tempted to bring some home with me. Good job Ive got more sense.:D 02
