    Hi all
I'm a reasonably new, but very keen, gardener here. Based in Southampton, my husband and I took over a very 'over-mature' garden a year and a half ago, and have finally subdued it into some order. Its my first garden, as I lived in London previously, and I discovered I am definitely in love with gardening.

I have a small front and back garden, and as well as the normal shrubs and flowers, I love growing edibles. I have 3 x 2m by 1.2m raised beds in the back garden in which I'm growing spinach, lettuce, onions, leeks, spring onions, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, tomatoes, potatoes to name but a few, plus my herb pots (I always have bunches of herbs drying in random corners), and also integrate them into my borders, with runner beans, courgette and cucumbers, which I'm hoping to do more of - I'd love to work towards a permaculture type thing.

I also love flowers, especially a good pollinator flower, but have no sense of colour planning so its just a riotous mish-mash at present, with rather small plants, grown from mini-plugs and seed as thats all I could afford.

My OH's family are keen gardeners, but mine aren't, and I'm hoping to get some advice from people with more experience and knowledge than me, as well as share some of my successes (grown all our veg from seed!!), and horrible, horrible failures (I've killed literally millions of seedlings and plants along the way) to help along other newbies.

    Nice to meet you all!
    Hollie

P.S The photos are the back garden. The ENORMOUS plants spilling out of the back of the second raised beds are potatoes. I kid you not. They are about 5ft tall. I couldn't resist pulling one up the other week, just to see, and there were teeny tiny potatoes on it, so hopefully they will actually grow and I'll not just end up with a load of greenery to put on the compost heap!

Thanks all! @Barb in Pa - the flip flops got completely ignored I'm afraid and I just wandered about with bare toes, they must have been very disappointed! The bench was a labour of love by my husband - I had a vision and he created it one afternoon while I was out. What a sweetie <3

              Welcome to forum Hollie

Beautiful garden. I like that bench on the shadow - there must to be nice to sit.

@Saliha - it is lovely - I'm not a fan of sunbathing any more, give me dappled shade and a nice breeze any day.
@Barb in Pa - mine does just the same, your hubby sounds adorable!

I'm currently procrastinating awfully while trying to write an assignment - looking at how gorgeous everyone's gardens are, and what everyone is up to now is just so much more interesting....
