I have two Scottish Flame Flowers , Tropaeolum Speciosum , which I have grown from rhizomes bought in 2009. Both plants are doing really well and I would like to split the root so I can grow it in a couple of other spots.
How and when should I do this ? Hopefully without killing it !

    TIA

    Hi Harry

    Scotish ?? flame flower

I grew years ago , acid soil and would spit them up early spring .

My brother would always dig up a clump in the Autum and keep in a frost free greenhouse over winter just in case and split and re plant in the spring (over the top I thought) , but he has a very large yew hedge which is perfect and would use this one to fill the gaps like you want to do.
