Hi, I currently live in Jersey but am moving to the Scottish moors (east coast) this summer. I do not have the foggiest idea which plants will thrive in this new environment. I love daisies and I want to grow lavender, herbs etc.

Does anyone know what I can grow. I know that a lot of stuff does not work so well in the moors cos its so high up and exposed.

    Many thanks

    Hi Daisywooks and welcome!

Have a wee read of this thread first as some of what you need has already been covered. here

You will find the climate quite different to Jersey. Cooler and fairly dry but can be arctic with a cold NE blowing off the North Sea. You don't say where abouts in Scotland or the elevation above sea level but daylight is also very different with long dark winter nights and 20 hours of daylight or more during the summer so the growing season tends to be shorter. Soil will most likely be acid too and your distance from the sea can make a huge difference to any microclimate you may have if tucked in a valley.

Very difficult to be specific without knowing a bit more about where you will be staying.
