I ordered a cement mixer from Screwfix the other day online.
They pass the order onto the manufacurer Belle.
Got a comformation today to say they would be delivering probably thursday, but could be 7 days. Then at the bottom it said help would be required to unload it, ie me.
Now I dont know what anyone else thinks but if I was to order a washing machine, I would not expect to have to help to unload it, so why do I have to unload my own cement mixer.
This means that I will have to take time off work to help them deliver it, a bit of a cheek, I think.
First and last time I use Screwfix.
Think I've been screwed, its gonna be an expensive cement mixer.

We bought an electric powered mixer last year as I had a cubic metre of concrete to mix. It easily handles 3 bags of pre-mixed concrete mix at a time which is just about as much as I would want to shift in one go.

The worst part of the job was barrowing the bags (I bought a pallet load and a half) up a 30 degree slope, 40 yards to the top of our drive way as the lorry had to drop them off on the village street.

Sounds like the sort of fun job I had with the mushroom compost, DaveW!
Pete - the specs on the B+Q cement mixer are - cost, just under £200, power 0.45kw (230v) 50hz, wt 43kg, and the main thing, prob, the drum capacity is 130 litres.

That does sound like good exercise Dave :D
Well, when I get mine, if I get mine, when I've unloaded mine, I'll tell you what it is. I did read all the technical stuff but I cant remember, its one of those ones you can wheel around or have it on a stand, £260.

What does a Joiner want with a cement mixer anyway?...Hope it's not for undeclared work on the side.
    Yours sincerely

    Hi Pete/Guys,

I've just read this - have you talked to Screwfix about it? We have been using them for years, and any time there has been a problem they have usually bent over backwards to help (I'm not on commission, I use people like Toolstation just as much! ;) )

If they didn't make it clear to you that you were required to unload it before you ordered, or even if you think that's a bit rich to expect you do it (as do I), then I would give them a ring and see what they say..

It came today, thats one day late.
Luckily it was in my lunch break so was able to dash home and unload it.
It was in a large cardboard box on a pallet on the back of the lorry, obviously loaded by forklift. The lorry had no tail lift so it was about 4 ft off the ground and the weight marked on the side was 70 kg.
I grabbed on side and the driver reluctantly grabbed the other, between us we dragged it to the edge and "dropped" it down onto the ground.
I then went to lift my side by the hand holes in the side of the box, the driver said "I usually roll them from here", and thats what he did just into my gateway.
It was then I noticed the "this way up" symbol on the box, then he shoved his clip boad in my hand said sign here, and he was off.
I then had to get it down the driveway and into the garage on my own, GREAT.
