Following the climate changes, there will be more and more female sea turtles being born, because, as the temperature will raise in the ocean, this will cause the incubatings egg to produce female turtles...I don't know why!

This is well known in Crocodiles, Mira, and I am not surprised it applies to turtles too. The gender is determined by temperature and with Crocs a 2c variation can result in male or female and could be the whole clutch. A rise in temp for turles may result in all females, whereas a drop for Crocs may produce all males . Isn't nature strange!

Ag. If you like little known facts. Here's one for you. The human male/female births are roughly the same.(girls win but only by about 2%) why should this be when it only (theoretically) takes one male to impregnate thousands of females. Surely the proportion should be one male to hundreds of females? The "fact" that I'm talking about is that no-one knows the answer. [IMG]

Hi,ydd. We'll have to stop meeting like this, people will talk. (Hannibal Lectur :D ) This is quite an interesting problem. I belong to several "Science" sites and we haven't got an answer yet. I would prefer a planet run by women, not Maggie, she was just a bloke without the plumbing. The amount of blokes on the planet aren't needed, for the sake of reproduction. So why are so many of us here. Natural Selection should provide an answer but it doesn't. Any ideas very gratefully accepted [IMG]

Yes, indeed BM :D But I fear, in that sort of society we would be a "resource" and not allowed too much freedom. Bit of a pain if you want to pop down the pub for a pint :D
