Seaweed or Not.

    can anyone tell me if this is a type of seaweed and is it worth composting thanks in advance.

    :scratch: Well not sure where you are which could make a difference. Doesn’t particularly look like seaweed to me.. Is there a lot of it there then.?

    I’m on the Kessingland coastline in Suffolk the shoreline is littered with the stuff which leads me to believe it is a type of seaweed just never seen this type before.

      No I have never seen that sort before either s do you think it could be dried Goutweed.? :scratch: Have you had stormy seas.?

      It has been choppy the last couple of days Goutweed has needle type leaves this looks more like a macro alge.

        The only micro Algae I know is Sargassum and the waters are too cold for that here I would have thought..

        I’ll get a couple more pics up in a bit if it’s not seaweed it can only be something that’s blown to the shoreline.

        It doesn't look like seaweed to me but dead foliage from somewhere.

          It's estimated that there are over 650 seaweed species around the shores of the UK.

          I have no idea how Twitter works but, you could try asking the Natural History Museum, via Twitter. Happy fishing.
