I'm preparing my first veg plot in the back garden and have heard that seaweed is good for the garden/compost. As I'm on the coast its a free resource but could someone please tell me what I do with it. Do I need to rinse the sand and salt off it first? I've thought of putting it on the soil as a mulch but presumably I'd have to cover it or it will blow away when it dries out.
    Any advice please:cnfs:!

Good evening Sheelagh, and welcome to the site. As Lollipop says, chuck it on the compost heap. But rinse in fresh water first. Seaweed is not so much a fertiliser more a soil conditioner.

Thanks for the advice chaps. I feel a brisk walk along Exmouth beach coming on. As A novice veggie grower I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time reading threads on the site.

    Thanks again
