I'm not sure if this should be linked from projects, general or a recycling thread, but it's kept me enthralled for ages, so I thought I'd share it with you.

Basic story is a chap in Jersey started doing some minor garden work and uncovered a WWII bunker in his garden!

Can anyone compete with this? :D

:) You never know what you might find in some of these older gardens.. We dug an old side valve BSA motorcycle out of a friends garden that had been buried during the war... He has nearly finished a restoring it, but still a few bits short.. Still had oil in the gearbox..!!:D

:thumb: Good Luck with your dig..!!! Shall be watching.. :thumb:

Can't compete with a bunker or a motorbike, but when we moved in two years ago, the only thing we dug up from our garden was tons of concrete.
There was a strip of concrete that went about 20 foot through the garden. They must have dug a trench. There was also about 10 places through the garden that had massive holes dug and filled with concrete.
Most of the garden was concreted over, so I'm assuming it was left over and filled in as they went. Either way, was a real pain. Had to hire a mini digger!!!

Well done on your finds though!

Bashy, some of the gardens in our road had WWII air raid shelters built into the hillside. They were all home made affairs and most of them have been filled in now as they got really dangerous and ready to collapse. Some were used as garages as they were better made than others, I wonder if thats what your concrete was from?

Maybe, my house was built in the 50's and I don't know what was here before hand. It's definitly something to think over...at least it would stop me cursing the previous owner ;-)
