I bought some tomato seeds this year, 2 from T&M and 2 from an Italian company. All have germinated well but the Italian ones are way ahead of the T&M ones. They cost about the same but there were 25 or so in T&Ms and 100s in the Italian ones [called Seeds of Italy, I think?]
    Why the difference?

Hi Liz, all the seed companies sell at slightly different prices, I suppose it's to do with how much each one spends on packaging, marketing etc. Seeds of Italy look good though, just did a quick search. [IMG]

I suppose that they have so many tomatoes in Italy that they don't mind giving away 100 instead of 25...

I bought a couple of packets of tom seed supposedly Italian seed Liz.
I think they are marketed by T&M but the packets contain hundreds of seeds, they will probably last me for the rest of my life.
Perhaps thats why T&M only give you 25 seeds. [IMG]

Typo....Could be the Ialian seeds are F2 not F1 and therefore would be cheaper to produce. If they are F1 then T&M are overpriced.

Oh I dont think mine are F1s they dont say so. More, I would think, Italian traditional varieties.
Bet they grow like weeds, they certainly germinated fast.
TomatoII Pantano Romanesco and Tomato Principe Borghese, if that means anything to anyone.
I dont think I've heard of them before.
