In another thread, there's talk about drying seeds/using seeds in cooking.

I wish to dry some fennel seeds to use in cooking during the bleak months.

How do we dry seeds for cooking without them developing mould? :dunno:

Any help, tips, advice would be much appreciated :)

Don't know about for cooking, but I store seeds in ordinary paper envelopes, and the envelopes go in an open box/basket thing I have in the bottom of a cupboard.

In the past I've tried to keep them in airtight containers and all that happens is the moisture can't escape so the seeds go mouldy.

Pick them in the morning, tricky bit this, after the dew has burned off but before the sun has time to drive the essential oils off.

Blow up a paper bag, (with breath, not explosives) and tie the seed heads into that upside down.

Keep in a dry place out of sun.

That's hilarious Zigs .... the fact that, for you, the thought of inflating a bag using explosives is a valid option!

"OK. Bag inflated! Now where did those blooming seeds go?!!"

What if your breath is explosive? I've heard about that vodka you make.
