i bought some seed potatoes from local gardening store, they were bagged up in poly bags and some were sweating . there were also hessian sacks to pick from ,,,,, the Desiree have scab ..... now i thought all seed needed to be inspected etc , any comment please and is scab more related to growing conditions than to soil disease?

Looks to be a good item and may interest you LG I'm growing a few spuds for the first time this year so can't be a lot more help. No excuse for garden centre though, could be palming off substandard stock.

tnks frogs, yes i need a ph of 5.2 which is pretty acid, i think my soil will be about that, but i ll be taking the offending spuds back anyway.
ill buy from T&M, at least i ll get quality, and i can go for heritage variaties, i just wish i had more room!.......... i can see the wildflower area losing a few sq metres!
