Seed Potatoes

    I was in B&Q diy store today and they have seed potatoes on sale, when is the best time to buy them?

    the end of Febuary, then you only have to keep them frost free for three to four weeks, before planting them last weekend of March. store in a light, frost free place to chit.

    Started ours (Charlotte, earlies) chitting in greenhouse the first week in January. Sowed them in buckets in a polytunnel in the third week in February and picked the first of the crop on 21st May. I also sowed some in the compost heap in February - these cropped later but produced a very much better yield.

    Dave, I`m going to try them in the compost heap this year.
