The price of veg seed seems to have gone up vastly.
I think it's because everyone is jumping on the grow your own band wagon and the seed companies are reckonizing this.
Don't get me wrong I like growing veg but like sal says you can buy some veg cheaper from the shop

I buy nearly all my Veg seeds from my local garden centre when they have their annual 50p-a-packet sale in September. Before then they have a 50% off sale, which I sometimes use for varieties that are getting "low" stock.

Some F1 seeds are frighteningly expensive too.

Moles Seeds are worth a look. Much cheaper ... but you have to buy quite a lot of seeds (more than you might need for a single season, great if you can share with a mate, or for seeds that will keep). Free postage (except on heavy things like peas & beans etc.) - good if you just need a packet or two :)

What about Real Seeds (I think that's the company) that does heritage seeds? They even give you instructions on how to save seed from each crop - so that you never ever buy from them again :heehee: (sounds like a daft business model to me, but clearly they are still in business :blue thumb: Reminds me of the company that sold Pumps that never broke in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: when everyone in the world had one the company quietly went bust!!)
