My favourite sempervivum (Jackpot) has rotted off in all this damp weather (expletive deleted). At first I thought bugs had got it but I think that they were just taking advantage of the situation.

Anyway the tops are still green but there is no root to speak of so I am kind of hoping that I can get them to root. Any suggestions gratefully received.

House leeks or sempervivum's are tough!... the name translates from Latin as "always alive"... so there's hope!

They don't like the damp so try to grow them in the most well drained conditions possible. So just place them on the surface of well drained really well drained compost (mixed with a lot of sharp sand or grit) in pots, put in a sunny and airy place outside, they should root by the spring.

I'm a wee bit worried about the bugs, what are they? They are probably taking advantage of the situation, but it would be best to treat them before further damage is done.

The bugs looked like slim brown woodlice and had chewed out the insides of the plant
