Shade is seen as a problem by some gardeners, but some plants thrive in the shade. Damp shade is ideal for ferns, primroses and lots more, whereas dry shade can be difficult. Perhaps we could share photos of some shady ladies. Here are two:

Giant Tibetan Cowslip (Primula florindae) They are summer (not spring) flowering and share a bog garden with Primula vialli, candelabra and drumstick primulas

The Peached-leaved Campanula is happy in sun or shade, but I love the way this self seeded white one glows in the dark.

Hornbeam I love the challange of shade - just love the pink candelabras, I have some orange ones, can you grow them from seed, would love to increase them.

I am getting some asarum going inbetween ferns and experimenting with stuff that may not be too hardy.

Restrictions are a great asset to creativity - lets use them!
