We have a pear tree, a plum tree, a cherry tree and an apple tree.

I have noticed on two of them that they have been invaded by some kind of bug and some of the leaves have become deformed/curled up.

I would like to spray them if possible but I have two apples forming nicely on the apple tree - the only fruit this year - and I don't won't to spoil them as they mean quite a lot to me! (I'd like them to still be edible) but I don't want the tree to be any more damged than it is though..what would you recommend?

The apple tree is a braeburn, the pear a conference, a victoria plum and a stella cherry if that helps.

    Thank you!

    .

From what I have read and from experience, it is very difficult to spray trees above 5 foot in height!

Also you are inclined to get more spray on yourself than on the tree being sprayed!

Even though sprays of all sorts now are not up to much (Because of EC and H&S) it is not really advisable to breathe any into your lungs or get it unto your skin.

Probibly not the answer you want, but it is rather difficult to do safely!

    Thanks for your answers :gnthb:

I don't know if it makes any difference, but the trees are just very young and so only about 4/5 ft, so I could reach them to spray them safely, though I take the point about breathing it in etc.

If I don't spray and leave it as is, will the bugs do long term damage to the trees?
