I'm not sure if peacocks really count as wildlife. but this albino version was really showing off at Leeds Castle today. Unfortunately, I only got his backside in close up, as he was more intent on seeing off a rival than charming the visitors. Or maybe he was just fed up with gawping tourists ....

And here he is in long shot, with a rival just on the right edge of the picture. My tail's better than yours, nah-na-na-na-nah!

But the rival decided to scream his opponent into submission ...

How lovely - white peacocks have been around for a while - albino yes, but bred nevertheless. The details on the 'eyes' on their train can look superb.

    Great photos.

No wonder he was showing off to his rival, who's train looks rather pathetic in comparison!

The trouble with trying to photograph birds is they have a tendency to move around ...

    Hello Alison

I think there are several white peacocks at Leeds at the moment. They seem to have quite a collection of peafowl. There is a big sign near the entrance to Leeds saying 'Do Not Feed the Peacocks'. However, a group of kids on an outing there more or less had to - the birds were mobbing their picnic! Still, not as bad as the wrecked outdoor meal we had at Knole a couple of years back. It got gatecrashed by deer. They trashed everything, including the tablecloth! I don't take any chances with them any more, not since I saw a very nasty accident involving a stag with an impressive set of antlers and a man who had an apple in his trouser pocket :dh:
