First buy of 2014, was just mooching around the local nursery and these three looked nice for a fiver. Scabiosa Chile Black, photo overflashed so colour bit washed out, but too cold to re-do!

Went to Anglesey Abbey at the weekend to see their Winter Garden (thoroughly recommended) and they had some things in their nursery at 30% off - I bought an Exochorda giraldii var. wilsonii and an Amelanchier lamarckii is 3L pots for £13, and I also bought an Augustus snowdrop to add to my collection. Their "unusual" snowdrops were surprisingly reasonably priced (if you are into that sort of thing), but typically the ones I wanted were £25 a throw :(

Couple more Fancy Snowdrops arrived in the post - forgotten I had ordered them and might already have bought them elsewhere :gaah: Never mine, twice as many will bulk up twice as fast :)

I'm sure I have MORE than enough varieties now ... got to stop buying any more ...

Not added the ones I have bought this year, as yet, but the ones I bought last year are on my blog.

                        :)

If only it were that simple ... but ... you know me :) first up is twin scaling to try to bulk them up. Sterile conditions required, slice the bulbs up into 8 or 16 pieces, put in sterile tubs of (sterile) vermiculite, and cross fingers and pray! Pot up in Autumn and following spring may have a plant, which will then flower in year 2 or 3 - and if it does then slice all of them up again!

Second up will be to create an area for them to be planted in and enjoyed. Beech wood on a decently sloping bank would do nicely. Unfortunately heavy soil here, so no Beech :( and, being East Anglia, flat as a pancake :( Might have to hire some earth-moving Boy's Toys :heehee:
