Hi, I'm hoping somebody will recognise this shrub and be able to give me some advice on how to manage it. It's evergreen, about 1.4m high and probably about 1m wide, roughly. It gets yellow flowers in summer. It's very twiggy in the middle and is currently looking pretty scruffy and sorry for itself. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
(In the summer photo it's the splash of yellow, and in the photo in which you can see the pathway it's the shrub on the left, there's a lilac and red robin to it's right).

I second @BeeHappy - looks like a rhododendron to me. Lovely colour, too! :)

Would it be a St. John's wort. Hypericum. [IMG]

I'd say definitely a Hypericum of some sort. Probably a Rose Of Sharon ( I'm not sure but I think St Johns Wort has smaller leaves and flowers, someone may be able to say better. ).

Thanks so much everyone! It certainly looks like a hypericum, going to have a look see if I can find a close up pic of the flowers, and have a little read up in my gardening tome. And, all going well, there will be a rhododendron on my patch in the not too distant future
