    Hello All

What should I do with my David Austin Ballerina shrub rose over winter ? I planted as a bare root in February this year. It’s a self care Rose and I don’t need to dead head it, should I be pruning it in February and by Joe much ? I’m thinking of adding some mulch at the base to help it over the winter. Just wandering what other people do with theirs.

I would trim down those long growths to the same height as the bush to make a rounded shape and so they don't blow about in the wind. Cut out any dead stems and very spindly stems. Then add some mulch. That is all for it's first year.

Thanks yes, I will definitely trim that down, and then mulch.
