canni just ask when I should prune my deciduous shrubs? I've got a Sambuca nigra black beauty and it is need of a hard prune to the ground. Can I do it now? It's lovely outside!

Most deciduous shrubs are pruned during winter or early spring. Sambucus is usually pruned early spring but pruning guides are exactly that - guides. I have Sambucus 'Black Lace' and will be pruning that down in the next couple of days to prevent wind rock, having dropped it's leaves already.
