Forth attempt failed because of bit of bad weather nearby.
I really cannot see us earthbound people ever reaching the far edges of the universe...

Well said capney! I think they hope to launch later today.
When I watched the moonlanding as a child I probably did think this was the start of the great space adventure...
Have been watching a marvellous DVD documentary set ( get the name later!) tracing the program from Gemini, Mercury to Apollo - stand back and marvel at engineering.:gnthb:

    Excellent link by the way.
Here is the name of the DVD set "From the Earth to the Moon" 12 episodes lasting 12 hours. Fascinating watching. Also an absorbing book is " Moondust" by Andrew Smith which I´m reading at the moment. Intriguing insight into the Space program and chasing down the "moonwalkers" now all in their sevenites - and no-one has been back since...

A friend of mine was there again yesterday, she e'd that it was scrubbed just 15 minutes before launch although everyone could see the storm brewing a half an hour before that.

My kids were there for the first try, then drove back home. Junior said that they were going to wait until 4pm (Eastern US time) to see if another try was on, and if yes, perhaps drive over again.

We were lucky with the last one, Atlantis, we went and it lifted off right on the dot. A wonderful experience!

Nearest I got when I was there was when it was in the assembly building and it was closed to the public because the boosters where attached and active.
Still a great place to visit.
I can remember the first moon landing very well because I was on RAF duty on that day and we sat up in the early hours watching the luna module lift off from the surface.
The tension was totally awsome, as it was with all the apollo missions.

    Good Morning

The very fact of not having been back to the moon since Apollo has heightened speculation over the past years that the moonlandings were a hoax.
Think of the thousands of people involved...don´t you think ONE at least would have spilled the beans by now...there is a limit as to the amount of pre-arranged accidents even the CIA can pull off!
