They said they didn`t realise the resemblance, or that it would cause offence, pathetic.:(

Now come on now. Don't they make models of things like that before they actually build it.

To be honest, I don't get what the problem is. It looks like the twin towers in the sense that it is two towers next to each other. Surely we can't be saying that nobody may ever build two towers next to each other ever again?

The novel design half way up is just a novel design. The world trade centre didn't look like that while it was collapsing. The two towers didn't collapse at the same time after the attack, and even if they did, they wouldn't have looked like the ones we see in the pics above.

Even if there is a resemblance, which I can't see, surely we can't have a ban on new buildings that look vaguely like buildings that were ever the scene of horrible events. Otherwise we'd have to ban all new shops, offices, hotels and train stations, because the likes of the IRA and ETA have done their disgusting work at such places.

Well, as it says in the article, they have probably done this to get it noticed by the world press. The description of the centre bulge is even described as a 'cloud' ...

      Now compare to this :-

I guess I must be. I didn't realise I was obliged to have the same opinion as everyone else. I've stared intently a the picture, and no matter how hard I try, I can't marry up a modern design with roof gardens and an explosion. My mind clearly doesn't work that way and I guess that makes me a bit odd. I humbly apologise for any offence caused and will try to have the same opinion as everyone else from now on.

You can`t see the similarity in the images Nathan has posted? There is no need for the sarcasm either. I was in Cornwall the day of the attack, got back to the apartment just in time to see the second plane hit the towers. Did you see it? Did you see those people JUMP from the top floors to save themselves from burning to death? Sorry for the rant Nathan.

I just looked at the artists impression and my first thoughts were of lego technic. If the connection between the American towers hadn't been pointed out, it wouldn't have even occured to me.
I'm not keen on the design as shown in the shot from below, to me it looks a bit like a growth on a tree stem. But I do like the one from above, now that looks both radical and scary.

Like Clueless, we all see things differently.

I can't see the resemblance either clueless, in fact I quite like the idea.

Yes, there is a resemblance, but sorry, I'm with Clueless. The event that happened at the twin towers was horrendous and I'm sorry people lost there lives (I saw it all on television as it happened) but we have to move on from the past, otherwise the developing world will come to a standstill.

Yes, the new buildings are an unfortunate design but I'm sure they weren't intended to offend.

I was at my desk when the news came in that 500 of my colleagues, including around 100 from our UK office, were believed to have been in the towers when they attacked. No work got done that day, because everyone was waiting for news, waiting to here that the colleagues we knew personally were ok, dreading the news that they weren't and full of sorrow for those involved and their families whether we knew them personally or not. At the time I work for Aon, which is a US company with a UK presence, and that occupied a significant portion of the WTC.

I saw the footage later at home, showing people jumping to certain death to escape the flames, and it really disturbed me as it would anyone.

The event was truly horrific. Quite possibly the most horrific event on allied soil to happen in my lifetime.

So yes, I did see the footage, and am aware of the horror of that day, but I don't see the connection between that and a new modern building design.
