We have been receiving silent calls with no numbers showing on our incoming calls indicator for some time now it was only a couple of calls a day, it was annoying but manageable.

The past two days we have received 20 persistent long ringing calls with no number showing and when answered, 19 were silent ,no answer to our voices.:wallbanging:.
Only one had a voice on the other end, with a strong Foreign accent, which I could not understand, by this time I was like a bear with a sore head:mad:..

I shouted at this gentleman in my loudest Strong Scottish Accent,
"F--- Off And Stop Ringing This F------ Number"!! then hung up.:gaah:.

I just hope it wasn't Father Ignatius ,our Parish Priest calling:smile:.

Today We have Not received one Silent Call, so here's hoping:dbgrtmb:.

Are there many people on Gardeners Corner who have received these,

    'Drive You Mad Calls '?????..

Get them all the time, best ignored. If you pick up the computer will know someones there and keep calling you back.

Had a 0845 number call me today, saying they from orange and could offer me a better deal as a valued customer. They then asked me for my name. I said hold on, you called me so you should know my name.

They said due to the data protection act they had no personal details available so I said yeah right and hung up.

    That number was 08452867239

Don't answer the phone then, Music!!!!:snork:
If I'm around when the phone rings I listen to the person leaving a message on the Answer Phone and if it's not someone I recognise I go about what I was doing:dunno: I probably get two or three unsolicited calls a day but they usually break off before the answer phone kicks in.

Music , are you registered on the Telephone Preference Service ? This does stop a good chunk of unwanted calls.

If it really does bother you, have a look at the new BT8500 telephone.

It's a superb piece of kit! There are so many options for blocking/barring, monitoring, intercepting or allowing calls. It says it can sort out 100% of the problems.

BT have it on offer at the moment.

It's 2p a line cheaper in here. Same reason I advertise stuff for sale in the Obituary column.

I've bought the version with only one subsidiary phone and it was £59.99 on offer. I'm still reading through the 70 page handbook! :heehee: It's well laid out and explains things well.

I've moved this thread to the off topic forum because, as HarryS has pointed out, it's in the wrong forum.
I would have phoned Music to let him know but he's not answering his phone!!!:dunno::whistle::loll:

I have actually unplugged my landline now, enough is enough the damn thing was always ringing with rubbish calls, I too had the answerphone switched on all the time but I felt it was an intrusion I don't need so I have pulled the plug. If my Son wants to speak to me he calls me on my mobile.

Talk about two opposites, Val!!!:snork: When I was working I had at least two phones or sometimes three not including my own phone. Those used to ring 24/7 even in the very early hours of the morning when I was in bed asleep with calls from staff who seemed to think that Managers don't sleep.:hate-shocked::wallbanging::snork: So now I rely on my Landline and my Mobile is used for specific texts or talking to people that I want to talk to..........then it's switched off:yes::snork:

I very rarely get a nuisance call having had the call blocker for some years. I also don't have an answerphone so that I can 'sift' what calls I answer. But I would like to ask, how many of you still have your telephone numbers in the Phone Book? I've been ex-phone book for donkey's years and it does make a difference as my number is not so easily accessible.
