someone dumped all their grass clippings/garden prunings ect on some common land where we often walk the dogs, this plant looked so very pretty i had to take some home with me to take cutting from (even though it was quite wilted but you never know your luck) anyhoo does anyone know what it may be? judging by the mound of prunings i believe it may have been quite a substantial shrub, the leaves are silver with pretty pink & white flowers. thanks in advance ;)

Yes indeedy, grab it quick because it's a beautiful plant and easy to grow from cuttings!!!

What kind of Philistine could chop it down in the prime of its flowering?

Water the cuttings well, they'll probably pick up. I've had success from wilted things before now.
This plant needs plenty of sun and air, shortlived, as they may be slightly tender, so take insurance cuttings every year.

Yes, just stick them in a vase of water for a day. You'll soon see which ones pick up the best. :dbgrtmb:
