What do you guys think about the news that Silverstone has lost F1?

Personally I think it's a waste of money to move it from somewhere that's had lots of investment over the years to somewhere where the track and the link roads need major work and investment.

P.S. Sorry about my spelling it's all over the place today!

Somehow, I don't think this will be the last we shall hear on this move. I would rather it return to Brands Hatch than move to Donnington, but wherever it ends up money has got to be spent that is for sure.

Lewis is doing well so far so good today!

Silverstone has struggled and failed to improve the venue and Donnington appears to satisfy the investors they can deliver the goods. Motivation not stagnation=Profit:)

Can someone explain to me why the powers-that-=be at Silverstone say they would go bust modernising Silverstone - and yet the folk at Donnington think they can make a profit?

As do, presumably, the folk in Malaysia, Shanghai, and so on.

What did they say the crowd over the weekend was? 200,000? Dunno what a ticket is, but that's quite a lot, and I know that other events during the calendar don't attract as much, but they bring in revenue - well, that's ALL the revenue Silverstone is going to get now, is that going to be enough for them to survive?

Good point Kristen. As I understand it Silverstone say the amount they would need to bid to win would be more than the ticket sales, but Donnington are going to sell shares to raise the money to cover all the costs including upgrading the track etc.

What's the betting that Silverstone buy the contract back from Donnington, and the Donnington "shareholders" pat themselves on the back and "trouser" the rewards? Daft ...
