Apart from a bit of gardening, my main past time is playing guitar and singing.
My brother and I used to perform at the holiday camps as a duo.
We had an eight track home recording studio in the attic which we would play keyboard, bass guitar, drums, and harmonica.
The keyboard had lots of instrument sounds such as violins, sax, trumpets etc which we would put on to cassette tapes (and vocal harmonies)and use as backing while playing guitars and singing.
The keyboard was great, as you could put any instrument a song required.
I recall seeing two performers using two guitars and a drum machine at one gig.
This was not as good as having the other instruments play in any song they performed as it lacked colour.
Who could possibly listen to 'Baker street' by Gerry Rafferty without that sax intro?
Or 'I did what I did for Maria' (Tony Christie)
    with out the brass section?
Backing tapes also help keep band numbers down as the agent was paying only enough for a duo.

Glad to see another guitarist out there, Fonzie! I play a bit too, but nowadays I prefer the double bass - you don't have to play so many notes.....

What sort of music do you like too, Gogs? I take it you like Queen :D

Sounds good fun, Gogs! Don't know when I last went to a concert of that sort - only go to Bluegrass Festivals these days, and that's a LOT different!

short of you coming up here for a visit, probably not, MF! :D

IF you want to hear good players, there are bluegrass festivals around your part of the world, and I know of one group based in Chelmsford - they're a lot better than me!! They actually take some time to practise regularly, unlike me

Anyone heard any good soul bands in the North East recently?Me and Mr.Fiz have decided to tie the knot in August this year.I used to sing in a band about 10 year ago but don`t get to many gigs now so am a bit out of touch.A couple of things that stick in my mind about being in the band.....We were called Horizon and were in the changing room waiting to go on stage. The Concert Chairman(we did the clubs)announced us...Can you please put you hands together for Horryzon.I couldn`t sing the first song for laughing.
Another was when we got up to do a sound check, after the bingo of course(bingo is very important in the NE)and some of the ceiling caved in.There was water everywhere. :D :D If it had happened above the stage we would have probably been electrocuted!!

Fascinating stuff, Trux!! What others, I wonder - mandolin, fiddle and banjo? Or accordion?

    I'm impressed!

And Elaine - is there no end to your talents???? Congrats to you and MrFiz! Don't have an answer to your question, though, sorry. :(
