I have a very pretty Skimmia which holds its' red berries whilst the flowers are on. At Christmas it looked great as the white flowers stood out against red berries, it made a good window box plant. It is only small so I don't want to take cuttings yet but it is just beginning to drop the red berries [new green ones already on] so I wondered about the seed. Does anyone grow them from seed and if so will they be true to their parent?

I don't know, Liz, but I'd think it unlikely. It would be interesting to try it, though, and see.

I grew from seed once, it takes a bit of patience for a few years till you get flowers though and then you have to work out what sex they are.
I dont think they will come true.
