Skype..Have I mentioned this before.

Is anybody on it....as in free phone calls to every one that is on Skype (which includes all over the world) so that if you have friends or relatives in America, Australia whatever, as long as they have a puter and skype you can talk to them free of charge + live text similar to Msn but only need to involve one person unless you invite others to chat??:thumb:

I downloaded it but they kept asking for money, so I uninstalled and went to yahoo messenger instead.

 

Pete, it's only free if BOTH are on Skype. You pay 1.7 cents (in my money) to the majority of the world countries per minute if the person you are calling a non-Skype user .... FAR CHEAPER than BT or PT! If you want to use this part of the service, you have to put money into your account.

If you want to call me .... ha, ha .... I'm free but you have to ask me for me address!

 

I seem to remember that It said I had one free call.
But I couldn't make that call until I put money in my account.
Maybe I misunderstood but I'm wary of rip offs.
And anyway, nobody gets money from me, IF ITS FREE.:confused:

 

I've been using Skype for a couple of years now, never paid a penny. I only chat with mates who also have Skype, also use it to send pics etc, much better than MSN for most things. I can use web cam and voice no problem (as long as I remember to plug 'em in)

 

the SKYPE version that I have downloaded is free, although I seem to understand that there is the option of a more advanced one that costs just a little.
As I am using the service occasionally, I am more than happy with the basic version.

I use Yahoo messanger and it works perfectly well for me.

 

While our son was in Bolivia we used 'best minutes' which only charged 3p per minute land line to land line. Since he returned and told us of his Bolivian girlfriend we now have Skype which as you say is free.
