Coincidence or not.... last night was the first time I sprinkled some little slug repellent pellets around my veggies... tonight is the first time there have been slugs IN the veggie pots and planters

I'm assuming the pellets will not have attracted them?!

I might be all wrong here Snowbaby, but I think the theory is the slug pellets do attract the slugs to the pellets and away from your plants.
But if you didn't have them bothering your plants before - why use the pellets.
I just think if it aint broke don't fix it !

Purely because we get a fair amount of slugs in our garden in general. If there's slugs on the ground tonight, I'll remove all the pellets and see what it's like afterwards!! How annoying!

I'm a bit confused with your slug problem Snowbaby.
We all have slugs. Some people seem to have monsters, others not much problem.
I see the odd slug in my garden. Maybe I'm lucky - or just so mad that even the slugs won't come near me.
If the slugs don't bother me then I don't bother them.
If I see signs of slug damage on plants then I give the area a few slug pellets.
As I said I think the theory is the pellets attract the slugs to the pellets - in preference to the plants.
They DONT repel slugs from the area.
I think the phrase "slug repelling chrystals" was dreamt up by an ad man trying to make the product more acceptable .
