Hi all - I have a small town garden near Leeds, West Yorks.. I have a perennial problem with snails and slugs (loads of 'em!) and my garden is mainly lawns. I have a dog and cat and don't like to use poisons and baits. I know there are many slug-resistant plants, such as fuchsia (which I'm fond of) - it there anything I can fill some large planters with now, in mid August, and which will give some colour or greenery and last the winter? I realise I've left it a little late so any interesting ideas appreciated!

Welcome Sewer Longtail. R-A-T is taboo on the island because of superstition!

With Spruces suggestion you won't have poisoned animals, you'll have drunken ones! :)

Putting sand or grit round the base of your pots will help. Copper bands round the pots work too. With regards the rest of your garden eradication is impossible. I have the same problem.

Good evening SewerRat and welcome to the site.:D I would suggest using a liquid slug killer. once dry it will not hurt other animals.:dbgrtmb:

I use the organic slug pellets and they have done well for me. Pet, kid and wildlife friendly.
