I have noticed for the first time a HUGE reduction in these annoying creatures. Our winters are usually temperate and the past one was the first severe winter since 1947. I wonder has the cold killed the wee blighters off. My garden is usually alive with them. I haven't seen one this year. maybe i should chance a hosta or two:wink:

Perhaps, being Ireland, they've gone the way of the snakes?

I planted 2 trays of bedding salvia and thought 'they'll be pretty', totally forgetting that as I planted 2 trays of bedding salvia the slugs were thinking 'they'll be ..... lunch' !

Yes, I've seen fewer big slugs too this year. The cold winter might be the cause but I suspect the very dry Spring might also have contributed.

Watch out if we have a mild, wet autumn....!

Hi Rhylesgranny. glad to hear that Ireland have had a HUGE reduction in slugs and snails ,but here in Scotland i have experienced (for the first time ) the increase in these blighters :(.
i have been planting for the past five years the same veriety of plants every year with great success ,but this year my plants have been eaten alive with slugs /snails :(.
I used Slug Pellets they have reduced the damage that the little Bugg*** could have done, my plants could have been wiped out:(. but i have caught them in time. so all is well.

i have only one request STOP SENDING YOUR UNWANTED GARDEN PESTS OVER HERE:hehe::hehe::hehe: music .
