My neibour has asked me to find out for him how to get rid of the slugs & snails in his garden.

After trying the grit and salt as I advised him he had no sucsess, today I will tell him to try beer traps but if this does not do the job has anyone else have any ideas?.

He has asked about slug pellets but has the problem and worry of his young children getting hold of them.

Do we know of any child frendly slug pellets? and where to get hold of them?.As he is new to gardening and wants to learn.

    Hello coub,

I have just tried "growing success advanced slug killer" it says it is certified for organic use uses "ferramol bait technology" says when used as directed it is safe for children and pets.

It does say it is limited to 4 treatments per year per crop. but i think if you use all types as directed ie spa rsely all over by the time any creatures get the teeth into a slug the amount that is absorbed by them is not adequate to poison the predator.

I have doubled up by using "Fito Slug Stoppa granules". again certified organic safe to children pets and wildlife. If infested to use traps and protect important plants with copper tape. Now the good thing with this stuff is that it has a money back guarantee-always a good sign in my opinion.

I have noticed an improvement , but have also been disposing of the blighters as I see them whilst out gardening using an empty coffee jar. I just fill it up with salty water when finished wait for 30 mins then throw the remains in the bin as they might have poison in them.

I got these products from Bents Garden Centre in Leigh Lancashire but I am pretty sure any of them will have these-or of course buy online.

I paid 5.99 for 2x3.65litres of slug stoppa and 2.95 for the granules.

    I hope this helps him

    Hi !!!
They usually "feast" on hostas, French marigolds, campanulas, tall lobelia and naturally lettuce.

This season,it is mainly gazanias, lupins, varigated iris leaves and flowers and shasta daisies, I wonder why?
