Just read in the paper, as last year was perfect for slugs, ideal breeding conditions. Many more would have survived the winter.
Means this year we will be overrun with the blighters.

I know I shouldn't tempt fate, but I haven't seen them around so far and was hoping the long freeze had killed them off

They're still in the soil, was finding them when I was digging the plot over.

      Things we can do :

Put wood ash around vulnerable plants.

      Use coffee grounds too.

Buy Nematodes, they do 'orrible things to slugs.

Set beer traps, cover them against rain & empty every few days.

      Get a Hedgehog.

      Get some frogs.

Get a torch and a lumphammer, also protective glasses and a flannel.

Some of the above methods are illegal under EU law and this in no way represents the views of Gardeners Corner, just one escaped criminal mad man.

            offer them a beer :)........
not a joke , they are getting mad for beer and will kill them self in there .....
I`ve spent so much money in slugs pellets , that not worth the price of the plants they are eating .
