I see that the small bedding plants are now becoming available from the big garden centres. A bit early as usual but maybe you'll buy them, and perhaps lose them before April or May when you can plant them out, then have to buy some more ha ha.
Well you can beat them at there own game if you have a propagator or heated greenhouse.
buy now and pot on into 3.5 or 4 inch pots, about 55-60 deg is warm enough. When you have enough new growth, take as cuttings, they root relativly quickly in late Feb- March in a propagator.
This works with most petunias antirhinums and vertually any mini bedding plant sold in the next couple of months.

I see this is an old post by Pete.
I find for a lot of bedding type stuff it is cheaper to buy it ready grown than heat the greehouse from January.

I heat the greenhouse all winter Alice so I'd only be using spare space,(spare space?joke), but I do agree with what you say its not worth it just for bedding.

You heat the greenhouse ! That sounds better than my unheated caravan. Much work in Kent at the moment ? :D

    well its not bad Ziggy.
If you have a job that is.:)
Must admit to never being over cautious, so only worked for other people, never gone it alone.

But if you know what your doing,(as I'm sure you do), there is work available.

There is a big shortage of real tradesmen in this country thats why we have to import them from eastern Europe, or is that because they work cheaper than the locals??

The ones that moan about incomers undercutting them are usually charging too much in the first place. The best advertising is word of mouth. Do a good job & the work will keep coming.

Always looking for work Pete, don't matter what that job is. Its just that a heated greenhouse sounded better than some of the digs i'd had lately :thumb:
