Small Fruit Trees (Present)

    Hi,

    I am looking to buy my parents a fruit tree for christmas but it needs to small, about 5 foot maximum.

    Does anyone have any suggestions please?

    I'd avoid Gardening Express if you can - not heard all good things about them.

    As for fruit trees, not strictly a tree, but how about a couple of blueberry bushes? They fruit in the first year, grow quite slowly and do well in pots for several years. Lovely red (deciduous) leaves in Autumn and white/pink blossom in Spring.

    I agree with Aaron's suggestion regarding blueberry they crop well and look nice too. Another suggest would be a potted peach, but depending on where your parents live it might need some protection in winter.

    Thanks for the heads-up on gardening express. I just did a google search because I remember ages ago reading about a mini apple tree that would fit in a pot. The one I was thinking of actually had two varieties on one plant, obviously two grafts onto one main stem. I couldn't find that one though. I just googled 'patio fruit trees'.
