    Hello frist time posting.

I have made a small river in the garden. But I dont like the black liner that I have used. (doesn't look right) I have been thinking about glueing the pebbles to the side to take some of the black away. Or even printing it. Anyone else have any idea what I could do

    Thanks Jonathan

Hi Jonathan. I cannot help with your query, just wanted to say that I think it's going to look great. :)

Hiya Jonathan, love the planting around it.. maybe make it slightly wider and a bit deeper so you can get more stones to cover the liner without the water/wind moving them on the sides? I'm no expert though, I'm sure someone with better knowledge will come along and help :)

Put round cobbles in to hide the liner, will look lovely once the water starts to flow.

I just think you need some bigger stones or cobbles around the edges. Perhaps a few small plants as well.

It looks ok to me, but here's a few things to think about.

You won't be able to glue anything to the liner. It won't stick. At least I couldn't get anything to stick to mine, and extensive googling to find out why mostly just turned up posts from people saying nothing sticks.

It looks like pond liner now because it's brand new and empty. Once water is in there, it will look more natural from most angles straight away, but a closer inspection will of course reveal the liner, for a few weeks.

In time, probably a few months, algae will take hold. Remember I said earlier that nothing sticks? I was lying. Algae sticks. Some people go to great lengths to keep algae out of their water feature. I think it's essential in moderation. It's almost always present in natural bodies of water, so if you want something that looks natural, let the algae stick, in moderation. This will naturally hide the pond liner and contrary to popular belief, it doesn't have to mean the water is not clear (different algaes have different effects).

With that and a few plants at the edges, by the end of summer it will look like it's always been there.

        Nice job by the way.
