A couple of shrubs have popped up in the last few weeks; my landlady did a fair bit of hard pruning before we moved in over the winter so I've no idea what they looked like before, size, flowers etc. Any thoughts on what they might be?

    First one:

    Second:

The first is in a mostly sunny area, the second gets almost permenant shade. Thoughts?

First one is a walnut tree.

Second one is cotoneaster, probably Cotoneaster franchetti.
