    Hi all,

I have been looking at various posts in this section to get some ideas on what plants to grow around a water feature, and there are some useful links, but can someone give me some specific examples of ones which are suitable for a small water feature please?

Basically my partner and I are installing this in one of our raised beds - the main reason we're doing this is because we're getting a beehive shortly and want them to have a nearby source of water. We'd also like to do something for other wildlife though as we have frogs and newts in our garden (from next door's pond).

    Any tips appreciated! :)

I have to ask, is this going to be a water feature or a small natural pond?

In short: a natural pond has no moving water, so it will need a few oxygenators at least (also an old flowerpot, or short pipe is good for frogs to hide in.)

If its a water feature. i.e with a pump, then put no plants in it at all.

I would also consider a small ladder for the frogs if its going to be a water feature in a raised plant bed.

It's going to be a water feature with pump, but I wasn't planning on putting plants in it, just around it. It's going to be in a raised bed so there'll be earth around the feature. The ladder's a good idea, thanks.

Just a couple of suggestions. I presume the soil won't be sodden around the water feature.

    Heucheras, Pendulous Sedge, Irises.
