Eighteen months ago I bought three new smoke alarms (middling price). A fortnight ago one started to bleep, we changed the battery, it continued to bleep! Within hours of each other the following day the other two started, we changed the batteries. Silence.........the next day they started to bleep again, we bought new batteries to replace the earlier ones in case they were dodgy. Silence.......then bleep overnight, don't know which one, bleep during the day, another one, but still don't know which one. Now all three are bleeping again, sometimes hours apart and they are driving us nuts! :gaah:

Can someone tell me what the BLEEP is wrong with them please! One has just bleeped again. :wallbanging:

This might sound like a daft question, but are the new batteries any good? On more than one ocassion in the past I've found brand new batteries, still in their unopened packet, to be completely flat when I've one to use them.

Clueless, the batteries have been changed twice from two different packets, the second packet we bought last week. However, one of the batteries came from yet another packet, so I really don't think it's those.

I will add the alarms are carbon monoxide detectors as well. The alarms are not actually going off but bleeping once at random.

There is no possibility they are detecting anything, I have no gas appliances or burners in my home and the gas boiler is in it's own room attached to the outside and back of my bungalow. :)

We had some smoke alarms that you could silence by pressing a button, they beeped every now and then to indicate they were in silent mode. Then they reset themselves after a while. I don't suppose you have somehow got yours set into silent mode?

Thanks Rusty, We'll try vacuuming them out tomorrow just to make sure the sensors are clean, but to be honest I don't think it's this and we've tried everything else suggested. I think we'll have to email the company that makes them and see if they come up with anything.

The problem is they started after changing the batteries and I can't believe all three would beep because of dust on sensors, it's to much of a coincidence. :)

No John, there is nothing in my bungalow that would make them bleep. See post #5 please.

If there was something smouldering, two weeks on is a long time to show itself, plus I have a very keen nose. Once again it's to much of a coincidence after the batteries have been changed in all three within days. I think it's got to be some type of fault. :)
