When I was at the Kent Garden Show I bought some "Smoker Bags" (basically, strong aluminium bags with the smoking chips securely enclosed).

On Sunday, I tried cooking a leg of lamb in one: added some garlic, rosemary and pepper, cooked for the recommended time, absolutely delicious! :dbgrtmb:

Today, I tried a chicken. The bag only suggested using chicken pieces, so I simply spatch-cocked the whole chicken instead. Added garlic and pepper. Bit disappointing though when compared to the lamb.

What I liked about them was that I could 'cook' what amounts to a BBQ'd joint without ... lighting the BBQ :heehee: The hickory smoker bag had the greatest scent but only imparted a delicate flavour; today's alder bag had a comparatively milder scent, but still imparted a delicate flavour that was obvious but without being overwhelming.

Just wondered, has anyone else used these? What are your thoughts?
