It seems like my garden has been invaded by snails and slugs..they have been eating my hosta's for a few weeks now....last week I planted out lettuce and marigolds and they are now eating their way through these now.
I have now started to use slug pellets...Is there any other way of getting rid of these?

Go out at night with a bucket and a torch, you can hear them eating.

Give a high potash feed to the plants, makes the growth stronger & less attractive to them. Avoid nitrogen feeds as that makes sappy growth that they like.

Don't forget that Zigs has superhuman hearing. I think most of us would struggle to hear a snail munching. I've heard them being munched, but not the other way round.

You need a Hedgepig to clean the traps out, they'll have the lot away.

Easy method for a slug pub.....

Two containers....ie....margerine tubs or the like....one tub... make holes in the bottom for drainage....place into the other tub...add beer....and large stone for any 'goodies' to get out...cut smallish tab out of one side (slug size) place lid on and bury 3/4 deep.....
When it comes to emptying just lift out first container and let the beer drain off back into the other and do what you like with the deceased slugs...replenish the 'pub' when neccesary:dbgrtmb:

I'll give that a try Lolimac - I 've tried everything else and still the little devils keep coming - I think they use the hostas as 'a takeaway' cos I can never find them!
