john these snakes are fine, the cobra they take their fangs out in india, not so sure i agree with that mind and to be kept in a box is a bit cruel, I am not a lover of snakes myself when that cobra moved towards me i can tell you i ran, mind didnt find out afterwards about their fangs being removed, even iff i had known i might still have ran, very lucky i got close enough to take these pics. :D  i,m terrified of them

I wonder how you remove the fangs from a cobra?

I bet its a pretty grusome process, that puts this sort of thing in the same category as dancing bears, as far as I'm concerned.
Dont think I would want anything to do with it personally.
Although I can understand how it can be interesting to watch rosa.

pete, I would normally of just walked by as i dont find them very interesting, its only because i knew that girl she asked me to take pics when i was walking by and i didnt know till after i took the pics that they de-fanged them.
I really dont know how they remove the fangs, they dont do this in thailand

You are about right Pete. I understand that removing the fangs considerably shortens the snake's life. Human entertainment again. [IMG]

Here is yours truly wearing a python as a necklace in Sri Lanka in the summer of 1995.

Ive come across a few snakes before whilst working, mostly grass snakes but even these harmless souls make me cringe, Couldnt touch a proper big snake like the ones pictured.

We have them slithering around all over here. I think there are nine species in Portugal, all non poisonous. I've had them here in the garden a meter long that went to live in our shed and then a baby one wiggling around the kitchen as a surprise. :D

They don't bother me at all ... people are more of a problem at times.
