I left the netting on my sprouts, broccoli etc and the weight of snow has flattened the supports and knocked most of the taller plants over.

The same has happened on my spring green bed, the netting has squashed the plants and allowed the pigeons to waddle over and help themselves.

I should have gone and checked a few days ago I suppose rather than waiting for it to thaw. Live and learn

I hope your winter veg will be OK, JWK.
We had the most tremendous falls of snow here. Everything was out of sight under the snow.
A good thaw on now and my sprouts, kale, leek, PSB etc looks just fine - much to my surprise.
I don't have a pigeon problem, so no nets on . I only put the nets on early in the year to stop cats scratching and Blackies howking up the seed rows.
I do hope you have plenty to salvage.

I wouldn't worry too much about the sprouts John. Ours have fallen over in the past (and at present) and they still produce a decent crop.

Thanks Alice, I reckon the spring greens will recover now I've re-netted them, the pigeons have only had a few of the leaves.

I hope you are right Dave, the sprouts are horizontal now but still look healthy.

My PSB usually topples itself over with the weight of the plant, still produces though.

I've pre empted it this year by staking it.

I have big trouble with slugs in my garden especially when my brassicas fall over. It's thawed out even more this morning, hardly any snow left so the slugs will be out in force. Good idea about staking Ziggy (after I re-read your post, I thought you said stalking!)
