Aye, but look at the prices of some of the rarer ones, or even some of the less rare too.

Sadly, not all of them. I have one which has stayed a single bulb for quite a few years now and Wendy's Gold has gone from 5 to 1 in 3 years.

Sadly not the ones that are £5-£10, and more, each ... which is, sadly, why those ones are £5-£10, and more, each :(

Do you have Galanthophiles :) over your side of the pond? and thus a supply of rarer / more unusual varieties?

Yes, we have them over here. Not sure the variety names. But I do have three types on my property.

The three I have are the "bog standard" Single and Double - G. nivalis and G. flore pleno, and then a wider leaf one with taller flowers and longer outer petals. It flowers earlier, so I reckon it is G. elwesii. They seem to be the common ones around here, although I have also bought a few G. ikariae and as they are the same price as G. elwesii then perhaps they are as common.

Hopefully the snow will have cleared enough to pick some more tomorrow, I picked the first vase weekend before last.

Harveys are just down the road from me, and I already have 2nd Feb (from memory) in my diary to trot along to their open day :)

            Kristen,
we have about four varieties in the garden (haven't the faintest idea which) but none of them are as advanced as yours. Hardly any sign of white at all.

I'll try and pop up to A.A. in three week's time to see how theirs are going and what price they are selling them at.

I've been out this morning and staked the "clumps" that could be split up, but TBH there are so few that I don't have any spares as yet - you'd get 2 or 3 bulbs which is a bit the blunt-stick eye-poke ...

However, I thought I might try twin-scaling on these to see how I get on, and if that is successful I'll bring some over to a future Open Day :)
