This picture was taken in 2012. As you can see in the middle of the top tier of this bed I have a pole holding the overhead electric cables. The electricity authority have recently informed us they are going to put the cables underground in the road beyond my fence. As yet we don't know any details of when, how much mess etc. but in the not to distant future. Assuming they are going to remove the pole means I have to move two Clematis from it. But, the question is do I risk planting annuals in that top tier should they do the work later rather than earlier, or leave it empty until the work is done? We had the cable that runs from my bungalow put underground a few years back. It runs across and underneath my lawn and enters the bed from the right, then rising up the right hand side of the pole. Whether they will want to move that cable to a different position I'm also yet to find out. What do you think folks?
Gorgeous bed, Sheal! Plant annuals - I think you are still house hunting/selling? - the annuals would add to the attraction for selling your home, a bare patch may detract.
Thanks "M" you wouldn't think that if you saw it at the moment! That's a good point you make about the house hunting/planting. I'd best get my seeds ordered this weekend!
Could you request that they leave it at a 5ft height?,say you will use it as a bird feeder and for your climber? it would save them some work too xx worth a try maybe x
Cor, now you've got my creative juices flowing ... if they left a length of it you could do carving in it (thinking Green Man, or some-such - now that would be an eye-catcher!)
Joolz......It's funny you should say that, that's what my other half said. No, I'd like it to go, I don't feed the birds because of longtails, but I'll replace the pole with something more attractive. I also have an inspection cavity/drain cover in that bed too (the pot is standing on it) for the sewer mains. So I'll be rid of one less than attractive sight. "M"......lovely idea but I'd think I'd have to shout Jungle Jane for the carving!
Certainly not! But, hosting a meet would mean extra work ... and we wouldn't want you to forego *essential* sustenance And ... they could be crowd pullers
Awww, never mind Joolz, it is winter after all, think and I did say think - about it again in the spring.
You're charging an entrance fee? Bit greedy after we've spent so much on travel, don't you think? I was hoping for bed and board: free, at yours!
