Apart from the obvious gardening, family, friends etc, what hobbies have you got. I am scooby (subaru Impreza) and fish mad.

My Subaru Impreza, super fast but not as fast as Nates!

My nearly finished fish room, pending rid of junk.

I had these tanks custom made by seabray who made the tanks at london zoo. They are an inch thick and with water they weigh nearly 2 tonnes each! Needless to say they are levelled on concrete with a reinforced custom made steel frame.

So what other interesting things do you do ?

    Hi bananaman

Your car is so polished that it frightens me. You sure you didn't used to run a car showroom?

My car gets put through a car wash on its birthday - if it's lucky!

I've been retired for 5 years now and apart from looking after our very large garden I love food, play a lot of bridge, do a lot of travelling (especially to some very out of the way places), enjoy helping people - and really enjoy fighting battles against bureaucracy and large organisations for myself, friends and acquaintances (in this last year I have fought Thomson holidays in the court and had judgement against them for breach of contract - and fought Npower and had great fun sending bailiffs in to their head office). But I'm a nice person really!!

    Wow, Bananaman,
Super shiney scooby!! I myself have a 1.1 Saxo, fancy a race? :D
Shiney, could I set you on the plumbers who did my bathroom and cocked up the pipework and very nearly destroyed my entire ground floor :(
Apart from raising the devil's spawn, work and gardening, my other (Winter) hobby is genealogy. I've done my Grans side of the tree back to the 1600's. Struggling a bit more with my Dads side, only 1809 with that one. Think they were all up to no good, as records for them are very sp*rse.

Jeez, Bananaman, can you come round and polish my old Golf to that standard?!! My poor baby only gets washed when I feel guilty enough :D
Nice tanks, are you going to do the water plant gardening too?

Windy Miller that's very impressive digging - I'm completely lost as to where my family's gone - there's no records of them that I can find, maybe I was hatched from a pod...

As for me, I like hanging around in the countryside - picturesque and/or historical places especially, animals, music (going to loads of gigs, dancing all night and generally re-living my youth, lol), I make flower remedies and some herbal tinctures, sometimes I like to cook and occassionally I make the odd garment [IMG]

Well, you've had enough praise over that car ... and what a sneaky way to show us who you are :D :D Ours only gets an occasional hosing as it's filthy by the time it gets to the end of the lane :D

We used to have fish (in a tank). In fact I had one in my office once with four different coloured angel fish - Captain Nemo, Christopher Columbus, Vasco de Gama and Magellan. I worked for a criminal trial lawyer then (murderers and the like) and it soothed the nerves ... theirs and mine. Casual chat: "and what do you do?" "aw, not much, just murdered my ole man" :D

I'm basically and arts and crafts person, anything with my hands. Besides the obvious gardening and garden-related projects, I paint with acrylics, crochet and I'm writing a series of children's books. Have already done a cookbook and a poetry book, only printed for personal distribution.

Besides the usual running a household, there's the occasional time to sit and read.

I intend looking into our family history but I am scared at what I might find, bad enough knowing who the live ones are! My car is not polished properly, I took the photo yesterday after I had given it a good wash. I am on holiday next week and it is getting a thorough polish and waxing. I love washing cars making them all shiney. I did my wifes last week and it came up quite well considering it sits out on the road most of the time.

Shiney I think people who fight the system are cool. Seems these days you only get good service by insisting on it.

Jay we can hear the V festival from our back garden we are so close and its so loud!

LOL I will keep you in mind in case I need your services, I have a 'list' which my mother in law has been no.1 on for some time! Sneaky indeed, I think the hall of mirrors effect made me better looking so I thought why not.

got an audi A4 Tdi it certainly can move especially when you need to get past anyone in a hurry bought it brand new 2 years ago, looking for a second hand one at the time as my son-in-law worked for audi at that time, the price of them where quite expensive and for few grand more decided a new one was the best way to go.
Since then the son-in-law moved next door to bentley a little remark went on getting one of them i said no way at over £130,000.
Then i like to walk the dog to our local park iff i am to lazy the dog gets a ride out to somewhere different.
Love horse-racing normally put a lucky 15 on at the bookies, planning a horse-racing weekend around september maybe carlisle so looking forward to that.
I used to have a large tank full of fan tail goldfish then disaster one died then another and another, i got so upset every time i lost one, i thought no more as i could not stand the loss
Like your cars banana man mine has to be taken to a car wash as with being on a top floor flat have no facilities to wash it, thank goodness. wish you where nearby you could wash and polish mine with the great shine you have on yours

You're right Bananaman, a lot of the time we get lousy service and it seems to come as a surprise when we get good service. Some people do give good service and it's worth looking after them.

I enjoy the fights but it takes time, which I have since retiring. The Npower fight was fun because we were getting nowhere and it took nearly two years to settle. They only gave in, after a fight in the courts, because I sent them a bill for £800 for my time taken in sorting out their mismanagement of the electricity bill. I sued them for not paying my bill (only fair because they are always saying they will sue us if we don't pay them - even when we don't owe it!) They ignored the summons so I sent in the bailiffs. That got a response!!!

    Hi Bananaman,

I used to get mad about those things ..... until I worked out how to get even. Then I started doing it for others. Some of those now help other people.

It helps if you're a bit wacky and can think of more unusual ways to handle things. Big organisations can't cope with anything out of the ordinary.

Can I have a Bentley too?
